A little bit of history

The long chandelier earrings ending with three drops were a wedding gift to Princess Elizabeth in 1947 from King George and Queen Elizabeth, but it was not until she had her ears pierced that she could wear them. 

When it was noticed that she had done so, doctors and jewellers were inundated with women anxious to have their ears pierced.  The Queen wore the earrings in 1962 when she attended a Gilbert and Sullivan Gala.

A little bit of history

The earrings were converted by a pendant necklace by Queen Mary.  Each has an oval pearl suspended from a collet diamond hanging in an ornate frame design set in diamonds.
