At the coronation ceremony in Notre Dame Cathederal, Napoleon, after crowning himself, crowned Josephone as his wife by her
The diadem was later inherited by her daughter, Hortense. It is set with 1040 diamonds.
In 1887 the french republic decided to hold a sale of its treasures, and the diadem was bought by a New York firm Van Cleef &
Aspels. It has remained in their possession to this day.
Our replica diadem is made as close as possible to the original piece. It is finished in silver plating.
