French Crowns

The Crown of Louis XV

Louis XV crown

A Little bit of history:

Up until the 18th century the French crowns were plain, without any diamonds of precious stones.
In 1772 Louis XV had this magnificent crown made.  The crown was made with the richest stones from the crown collection.  The crown
was made from by the French Crown Jeweller Laurent Ronde and originally contained the famous Mazlarin diamonds as well as the
regent diamond which was set at the front of the crown.

In 1887 the French Crown Jewels were sold at auction and although most of the crown jewels were distributed across the world
the crown was retained.  It was set with imitation paste stones and can be seen on display in the Louvre Museum in Paris

Our replica crown is made as near as possible to the original.  It is finished in gold plating
